[May11, 2020 – Virginia] On May 13, 2020, motorcoach companies from around the nation,including Virginia-based BestBus,will descend on Washington, DC, to spread awareness about the important issues the industry is facing due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The rally of more than one hundred motorcoach companies will take place Wednesday, at 10:30 a.m., and is intended to remind government officials and the Trump administration that the private motorcoach sector, which has laid off approximately 90 percent of its workforce in recent months, is in dire need of financial assistance.
According to a recent press release from the American Bus Association, the industry is requesting more than $15 billion in grants and loans to keep motorcoach companies afloat. They’re also requesting an amendment to include them in the Economic Injury Disaster Loan and Paycheck Protection Program.
The rally, beginning at 10:30 a.m., will start from below Three Staging areas, and pass the U.S. Capitol building and circle the National Mall.

Beginning from above staging areas, the rally will pass the U.S. Capitol building then circle the National Mall, and is designed to illustrate how big buses and small businesses move America. Each bus participating will be decorated with informative signs about how the industry benefits America and the economy. There will be buses to represent each one of the 50 states.
The rally is the result of a partnership between two of the country’s largest motorcoach associations, the American Bus Association and United Motorcoach Association, as well as independent motorcoach operators, state associations, and other key industry leaders.
